Brinley Academy is a small school located in the mountains of Western Montana. An hour outside Missoula, the academy is settled in a quiet corner of the mountainous region. It is a quiet area, away from the hustle and bustle of the city life.
Here, in the mountains, the best and brightest learn to shine. Riders from all over the world attend the Academy. It is renowned for turning out skillful riders, who go on to do amazing things. Anyone and everyone is welcomed with open arms to the Academy, from the best riders, to the beginners, everyone can find a home here.
The facilites themselves are beautiful. A big white barn houses the horses. A huge loft is on the upper story for storing hay and such. Fifty spacious 12ft by 12ft box stalls give the horses plenty of room to move around, and the sliding doors make for easy access. Both straw and cedar chips are available for bedding, and the barn is impecably clean. Huge fans keep the air circulating to keep it cool in the hot summer months, and automatic waterers have been installed in all of the box stalls, to make caring for the equines easier. The turnout paddocks are large, with plenty of room for the horses to run and play, and the grass is beautifully green in the Spring and Summer.
A large tackroom is available to students for storing tack. It is well organized, with racks and hooks for hanging bridles and saddles, as well as space for students to put tack trunks, for keeping barn clothes and bits or whatever else. The room, as well as the tack, is kept immaculately clean. Grooms and students are always shining tack. A small, but cozy lounge can be found in the barn for students to hang out between lessons. Several couches are settled here for the students' comfort, and during the winter months a fire is kept in the fireplace. The feedroom, like the tackroom, is well organized, with feeds carefully labled. There is also space for students to put their own feed and mixes, and hay can be found for public use here.
A large outdoor arena is used for riding in the nicer Spring and Summer months, and the occasional lesson is held here as well. The spacious 100x150ft indoor arena is more commonly used for lessons and bleachers are set along one wall for the occasional horse show that is hosted at Brinley. A large 50x50ft round pen is available to the students for lunging or training green horses. The sturdy wooden boards are 6 feet high to ensure the safety of the wilder equines.
Other favorite haunts of the students include the trails, which can be used for both horseback riding and running, as well as the lake. The lake is a great place to cool off during the summer, and students are more than welcome, encouraged, in fact, to take their horses for a dip in the hot summer months. During the winter, the lake freezes over and is a great place for ice skating. The indoor pool is also a favorite place. The water is warmer than that of the lake, and can be used in the winter as well. A hot tub and sauna can also be found at the pool, as well as a large, twisting water slide.
The old building is an original structure of the Academy, and within it can be found class room upon class room. This is where students come during the day for their classes. The basics are offered here, like math, science, history, social studies, literature, ect. The gym and library can also be found in this building. The library is a large room filled with thousands upon thousands of books, as well as state of the art computers for the students' use, and the gym is just that. A large gym, as well as weight room.
All in all, Brinley Academy is just a great place for students to come and learn new things and just have a great time.
